ABOUT Westin

CAI Investments, recognizing an opportunity in downtown Tempe, Arizona, embarked on a project to fill a significant gap in the local hospitality market. The area, experiencing growth due to an expanding downtown and the presence of Arizona State University (ASU), lacked upscale business accommodations. Identifying this need, CAI Investments set the wheels in motion for the development of the Westin Hotel, a project that would introduce a new standard of luxury and service to the area.

The journey began with the assembly of four parcels, acquired through negotiations with multiple owners. This crucial first step not only laid the foundation for the project but also demonstrated CAI Investments’ strategic approach to real estate development.

With the market need clearly identified, CAI Investments moved swiftly to get the development plan approved in 2017. The existing structures on the site were demolished, paving the way for the new development. CAI Investments chose RSP Architects for their design expertise, ensuring the hotel would not only meet but exceed expectations for an upscale business hotel.

Construction of the 17-story hotel began in 2019. The Westin Hotel, featuring 290 rooms, over 10,000 square feet of conference space, and a total of approximately 290,383 square feet, was designed to cater to a wide range of guests. It opened in 2021, quickly establishing itself as a premier destination in Tempe.

The hotel’s success was underscored by a 4-diamond rating from AAA and recognition as a RED award winner. One of its standout features, the Skysill Rooftop Bar, has been praised as one of the best in the Phoenix/Tempe area.

CAI Investments’ development of the Westin Hotel in Tempe is a clear demonstration of their ability to identify and capitalize on market opportunities, delivering projects that enhance communities and set new standards in the industry.
